Aronia is a deciduous shrub that is found where there are thickets in both wet soils and dry sites in the East. This plant will grow well in Bucks County and in Eastern Pa. The fibrous root system holds soil well, and the suckering nature of this shrub allows a large colony to grow within a few years. The berry is very poor in tasting and is not favored in the fall by birds. This is the reason it is a good winter source of food for the birds…
